The Subversive Cosmic Body

the subversive cosmic body

I will share some strategies to explore a way of being in the body, that goes beyond binary thinking and develops cosmic connections of a human body in the subversive act of creativity. The workshop brings a focus on a short personal investigation in spirit and matter to resist all the  power abuse that is happening around us. This workshop is for everyone, who wants to observe oneself and the other in the act of creativity in trance.  In meditative sessions we will move, dance, make texts, music and songs. Bring comfortable clothes, and a notebook to write or make drawings. Highly developed performative skills are always welcomed, but not strictly needed. Hopefully we will enter the unknown, the unpractised, the anarchistic, the hardly tangible in a huge diversity of aesthetics. But most of all a newly found tenderness of masculine behaviour for all genders.

Robert Steijn ( 1958),  performer, living in amsterdam, considers the performing arts as a laboratory for potentials in body and mind, that can contribute to a deeper ecological awareness of interconnectedness, and an activism that is based on tenderness and transformation. In his work he is influenced by plant medicines, trance techniques, and conceptual and relational art. At the moment he mainly works in Brussels, Vienna, France and Mexico.
