Still dancing for peace // 19.12

“Still dancing for peace” is a performative ceremony to dissolve the domination and violence of patriarchal structures in our western societies. My quest is to investigate why old white man in power can not give up their position and bring us in a deadlock that exhaust the planet, our bodies and the soil. In different settings and formats, depending where I am asked to perform, I share a somatic based cosmology in dance, text and songs, that is subversive towards the status quo. Instead i want to open our senses towards a way of living that is driven by empathy and a feeling of interconnection. “Still dancing for peace” calms down the abusive side of the masculine fire energy of the everlasting sun, as it is propagated in capitalism and the manosphere. I start to respect the silver-lined reflective dream reality of the moon cycles. Meanwhile It stays important to train ourselves to listen to the heartbeat of the land before any activism can start.

Robert Steijn (1958),  performer, living in amsterdam, considers the performing arts as a laboratory for potentials in body and mind, that can contribute to a deeper ecological awareness of interconnectedness, and an activism that is based on tenderness and transformation. In his work he is influenced by plant medicines, trance techniques, and conceptual and relational art. At the moment he mainly works in Brussels, Vienna, France and Mexico.
